Spyder Works to develop new look and vision for one of Canada’s top gala events

June 11, 2010 – The Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation (CCTFAF) has looked to the creative strengths of Spyder Works Inc. to oversee the creative rollout of its flagship gala event in support of women with cancer. The event will be held November 20, 2010 in Toronto at the Fairmont Royal York.

“This is the first time we have engaged a strategic design and branding firm to provide us with an all-encompassing, multi-disciplinary approach to the event,” says Sherry Abbott, Executive Director of CCTFAF. “We are very fortunate to have a firm of this calibre look at all the elements of the events and strategically bring them together to create an exemplary event experience for our guests, while achieving our fundraising goal of $500,000 for the evening.”

Now in its 19th year, the annual ball is the CCTFA Foundation’s largest fundraising event to support its Look Good Feel Better program. Attended by over 700 senior executives from the beauty, fashion, retail and personal care industry, the Ball is a well regarded and prestigious formal event that has grown in scope and calibre of execution and has been ranked one of Canada’s top gala events (Biz Bash Magazine 2006 – 2008).

The Look Good Feel Better program is a unique registered charity dedicated to helping women manage the appearance -related effects of cancer and its treatment. The program offers free cosmetic and hair alternatives workshops led by 1,800 industry trained volunteers in more than 100 cancer care facilities and hospitals across Canada. Since the program’s inception in 1992, more than 100,000 women have attended a Look Good Feel Better workshop, while hundreds of thousands more have benefitted from its Signature Services including an annual magazine, website and 1.800 information line.

“We very much look forward to using our expertise to make this an outstanding event for such an invaluable cause,” says John Paulo Cardoso, Chief Creative Officer of Spyder Works. “Through my previous work with Estée Lauder, Clinique, Oscar de la Renta, and now at Spyder Works, I know firsthand what an important and valued program the Look Good Feel Better initiative is. We look forward to using our skills and resources to make this event a night to remember.”

Spyder Works will be responsible for the overall creative feel of the event, incorporating the theme of Music Through the Ages into décor, menu, entertainment and video to create an integrated brand experience.

Allan Lever, President of Hollywood Alliance Canada Inc. and Chair of the Ball says, “I have tremendous respect and admiration for Spyder Works and certainly look forward to watching these brand architects take our event to the next level.”
